Titanic Belfast
Location
Belfast, Ireland
Services
Masterplanning, Project Development
Led the Titanic project from the earliest stage, working with Belfast City Council, Laganside Development Corporation and development partner, Harcourt, to bring this long-held regeneration project to reality. The core brief was to create a world-class visitor attraction as the centre piece around which the embryonic renaissance of the Harland and Wolff dockyards could accelerate. After extensive research and feasibility testing the notion of Titanic Belfast emerged.
On the anniversary of the sinking Titanic Belfast opened. The story is told through a series of narrative galleries that not only charts the fateful events of the maiden voyage, but celebrates Belfast and its industrial heritage, the skills of those who built the ships that sailed from her docks and the life and times of those who worked there. Doing the story of Titanic justice with only a handful of artefacts for display – some letters and scale models – the museum is almost entirely digital and uses immersive techniques to bring the ship to life and to transport the visitor back in time.
Over a decade since opening, Titanic Belfast is still a must see across the island of Ireland welcoming clos to 750,000 visits per annum.
