The Crystal is an initiative by Siemens that explores ways to create better futures for cities. Located in London's Green Enterprise District, it sets the benchmark for future developments, becoming Europe's first BREEAM Outstanding and LEED Platinum building. With installations, media, live data capture and RFID-triggered interactives, the exhibition highlights the impact of global trends on cities. It enables visitors to explore challenges, ideas and technologies required to achieve low-carbon living. London, New York and Copenhagen are used to present realistic, optimistic and possible scenarios for future sustainable cities. In 18 months, the brownfield site was transformed into the world's largest permanent exhibition centre dedicated to urban sustainability, serving as a global hub for showcasing innovative technologies.
