
Becky Schutt
Becky is a consultant with almost 25 years’ experience delivering best-in-class programs in the cultural and creative sectors worldwide. She has led and contributed to over 50 projects in over 20 countries, specializing in business and strategic planning, program and policy design, research and capital project feasibility for SMEs, governments and flagship cultural institutions.
As part of the Arts Consulting team at AEA Consulting, Becky delivered market research, capital development and strategic planning for clients including Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Galeri Petronas, Tate, and the Governments of Dubai, Belfast, and Hampshire. Recently, she collaborated with King’s College London to evaluate and co-design an artist-academic residency program with academics, artists and the University’s senior leadership team, funders and stakeholders.
Becky also led the Venice Biennale Fellowship for the British Pavilion, working with Deans and Heads of Faculty from 35 universities to build community of practice in access, inclusion and duty of care. Alongside, she mentored 66 Fellows – including emerging sound artists, poets, curators, historians, data scientists, philosophers - in preparation for their time in Venice. She led the British Council’s £9m Developing Inclusive and Creative Economies (DICE) program (2018-2021), which activated new forms of capacity building and collaboration among a new network of 22,000 creative social entrepreneurs, artists, researchers, intermediaries, young journalists, and policy-makers in Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa and the UK. The program empowered women, young people, those with disabilities, and those otherwise identified by their communities as structurally excluded from mainstream opportunities, to access creative opportunities.
DICE was cited as a 'bold innovation in international development' and ‘a model for 21st century leadership, encouraging new thinking and horizontal collaborations across disciplines, countries and continents’. DICE will form a new exhibition at Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs, in December 2024, including programming for Princeton Public Schools. Becky commissioned 18 artists from Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa and UK, working in film, animation, textiles, carving, poetry, traditional painting, political cartoons, and drama, to explore visual communication and international aid.
Becky is currently leading fundraising and investment strategies for Giving Connect (Australia). She is a Trustee of Crossing Borders Education an intercultural dialogue specialist and Arts and Homelessness International, a pioneering social enterprise focused on advocacy and knowledge-sharing across 40 countries.
Becky established the University of Cambridge Judge Business School MBA in Cultural/Arts Management (2007-2016) and the UK-wide Relaxed Performance Project (2010-2014), which focuses on inclusive theatres access for audiences with severe disabilities. Becky holds a BA (Hons) in Arts & Ideas from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School.
